I’m an outlier. I went to court with my grandmother to try to get her to be my legal guardian. The court couldn’t do it legally, but suggested my mom just let me go. She did not have to pay child support. My mom was a hot mess, my grandmother was pretty damn stable. In sure you’re mostly right

Yeah, I’m not saying that grandparents never need to have custody. Sometimes they do. But grandparents who file contested guardianship petitions to steal the grandkids…I can picture cases where that legitimately might have to happen? But I have NEVER seen a legitimate case. It’s always abuse.

Like, good grandparents can figure out other ways, ykwim? I see the same shit over and over. Grandparents go to ex parte (no notice to parent), make some overblown claim, show up with police to steal kids and then present evidence of the parent’s “lack of decorum” when the cops take their kids away
