I had to teach myself how to do this because of the way that some undergrads I taught reacted to historical atrocities. To find ways to get students to sit with things like chattel slavery long enough to understand and feel. It was part of helping them grow. But everyone can still grow.

Yes, finding the right way to educate but not push them back into willful ignorance. Sometimes just asking questions helps.
