I think the discussion over 25A and impeachment gets at a larger reality. You can argue both sides of either tactic, but the underlying problem is NO ONE is really holding the GOP accountable for letting Trump send his son-in-law on a diplomat's errand EVEN AFTER his incompetence led to war OR

OR the fact that they let him go to war w/o fully briefing before and during.

It's that accountability that matters, one way or another.

And impeachment/25A can be a tool to force that accountability.

I think the discussion is a waste of time, energy and missed opportunities to discuss topics that can have impact: ie Epstein, market manipulations, RE STARTING THE DRAFT, pick one focus on it. Messaging by Dems still doesn't exist. Always "reacting". His lies page one, our reactions page 7.

But the Republican Party gave us Trump, defended him, protected him, minimized his incompetence and on and on

But he's freaking black-bagging people with impunity. They're caving to him in fear for their lives. (This doesn't make me wholly sympathetic to them, but what I'm saying is that their fears are in fact legitimate, which complicates everything.)

Dem House members need to stop talking about the 25th Amendment. Cabinet members aren’t going to remove Trump.

Any House Democrat can introduce impeachment articles today, and use privilege to bring it to the floor. The minority leader can do it without even giving notice.

They could literally do it every single day for the next three years. But instead, I keep seeing them blather on about the 25th, when they could spend that time taking an action they actually have some control over. It will get tabled. But force it. If you are an opposition party, oppose.

REMINDER: If Trump were set aside* via 25A, he could reclaim the presidency, and then it would take 2/3 vote of the House (and Senate) to set him aside again. OTOH, the House can impeach him with a simple majority; THEN 2/3 vote in the Senate would be needed for removal.

Yes, the 25A is not a permanent solution, it’s just a stopgap until the House and Senate act.

OTOH it’s fast. That’s the reason to want it as first step.

the individuals in position to invoke the 25th, are fiercely loyal to Trump. And- Trump probably implicated them in various treasonous crimes, so they need him in office to protect them. There is no 25th anymore.

We have to create the narratives we want. The narratives have to precede any possibility of accountability.

Talking about the 25A forces people to think about whether Trump is fit. Talking about impeachable corruption sets the table for accountability and change.

By Democrats lining up behind Articles of Impeachment, you force the nation to have a public discussion about trump's fitness for office (or lack thereof) and create a platform to make the case that he has been a disaster for this country.
