Your post is insightful. Might I add that the chem trails of the commenting medium aid and abet these struggles? When we once spoke to friends in person and on the phone, the conversations had end points. We moved on. But SM is a kind of endless pause button to pick back up, and engage new takes.

Like this issue has definitely gotten worse of late, but you see proto versions of it when the TV on DVD era begins. Lost discussion was plagued by early versions of this.

Woof. How would modern audiences even fair with a release schedule like Lost's? Always felt like 2 to 3 episodes and then six weeks between.
