To be fair, Trump is lying a lot, but it's funny how many people always assume that he's specifically lying about the thing that would totally hurt them if he wasn't lying. Whether it's tariffs or deportation, many people voted against their best interest, because they think Trump is just unserious.

No they voted for him because they hate the same people he does, and it was JUST powerful enough an incentive, combined with a lackluster Harris campaign and low Dem approval, to allow them to overlook their own normally much better judgment.

Yes, for most of his voters, it will ALWAYS be race!! However, those financial types, many of whom are only concerned for money--not racism--actually are being screwed b/c of their believing he was not really going to do all the financial shit he SAID he was going to do! They are the real dupes.

True, but there's a pattern to what he doesn't lie about and this fit that.

If it's something he can do without anyone or reality stopping him, and he keeps talking about it over and over again, then it's something he's probably going to do.

Yeah, sadly a lot of people haven't realized that yet, or they thought someone more sane will stop his more extreme plans like in his first term. But those people are gone, now it's just him, his sycophants, outright fascists and malevolent techbro oligarchs. 🙃
