Amongst the analysis about SA election result, I haven’t seen any discussion of structural reasons for the Liberals’ shellacking. Here are my thoughts. Liberal voters used to vote Liberal because they believed the party was better at managing the economy. Labor seen as better on health, education…

Great analysis Vic. I don't think that our so-called political experts have given this much thought.

It’s not analysis. It’s opinion. Analysis is based on facts and data. This is not.

The Sloan Zone YouTube channel has covered this and other Liberal caucuses around the nation. He is a "former" liberal and he talks about how hilariously stupid its policies and organisation is . Hours of fun for the whole family

workers rights etc. Yet, my generation - Gen X and younger - aren’t buying this “Libs manage the economy better” idea anymore. We have grown up seeing for ourselves that wealth does not trickle down, cutting govt services does not make us better off, tax cuts are only beneficial to the rich etc.

This awakening - this structural shift - culminated in voters at federal election 2025 in their majority thinking Labor would manage the economy better than Liberals (and Labor has indeed been managing the inflation crisis well). Without their economic argument, Liberals only have fear campaigns.
