I get to explain to people at the museum that these guys were bigger than the biggest rock stars. They were national salespeople. Gagarin was the perfect Soviet man with the perfect Soviet wife and two perfect Soviet children. He was good-natured and could meet presidents or shopkeepers equally.

I'm kicking my #YurisNight celebrations off with food and drink inspired by the beloved cosmonaut. This is Gagarin pie, which sounds delicious!

It proved it is possible to go into orbit with allot of investment, time, people and kit. It was pushing the frontier of space exploration. But man surviving off of planet Earth?
Space flight is awesome, but it's not the best time to celebrate with Millions being displaced/killed by US/RU lunacy.

Interesting. You don't go into it in the article but many bodies of water seen from space are not natural, but are created by dams. The Manicouagan Reservoir is a very impressive example: an impact crater in Quรฉbec, a ring shaped lake made by flooding the territory.
