Truly incredible!🔭 🧪 ⚛️

#Moon during total solar eclipse from Orion ( #Artemis II).

The left edge of the Moon is illuminated by Earthshine, Orion spacecraft visible on the left, with Saturn just below the Moon’s lower right edge & Mars further right.

This image captures a really rare sight: a total solar eclipse seen from space behind the #Moon.

Orion is right there in front, Earth lights up one side of the Moon, and you can spot both Saturn and Mars in the starry background.

The #Moon fills the center of the frame, lit from behind by the Sun.

From Orion’s viewpoint, it sits exactly between the spacecraft and the Sun, so it appears as a dark almost black disk completely hiding the sunlight.

Truly incredible. What's the stuff on the solar panel wing that looks like ice?

That white stuff that looks like ice on the solar panel wing should actually be tiny ice crystals. They form when moisture from the spacecraft freezes instantly on cold surfaces while Orion is in shadow during the eclipse. It's pretty common on external cameras in space.
