That’s fair. It’s not bad by any means, but I think it should be acknowledged that it’s a novel rather than historical source.

That is also fair. I suppose I ought to ask if there's any non-fiction works on the reign of Julian that might be accessible to people who don't have history degrees, but who can still manage Vidal?
