The oldest MIDI file I have personally collected - a rendition of Sting's "Englishman in New York", dated September 25th 1993. 🔊🎵

I have Sting's "Fortress Around Your Heart," and the file is dated September 1, 1991. I have several others like "Bourbon Street".

Wow. *The* year of the General MIDI specification. Very impressive.

I was working at Creative Labs so I would have been listening on a WaveBlaster on my SB16, but the samples sound mighty similar tbh 😁❤️

Nice! I started collecting MIDI files back then when I had my Macintosh Quadra 605 in 1994. That’s a few years back before mp3

Holy shit, I think I have that exact MIDI file on tape somewhere.

As in, broke-ass teenaged me got a bunch of midis online (one would presume by legal methods) and hooked the tape deck up to the computer to make a mixtape.

I wish I still had the tapes of me singing over those MIDIs still. 😅
