In the meantime, there are plug-in hybrids. 40 miles on electric, auto switch to gas after. We do about 80% of our miles on electric, but can still take trips. This is our 2nd plug-in hybrid.

I really don't think it will ever happen in America. Too many Americans are scared of driving an EV.

The excuse in North America is that the grid can't support all charging stations.

Meanwhile Data centers and Ai can have all the electricity..

This is the problem

I don’t think so, unless they restart the massive subsidies. The infrastructure is very poor and electrics really are NOT better for the average person.

When the free market is allowed to decide for itself, it will always choose combustion.

It's called 'progress' and 'the future'... as opposed to 'fossil fuel' and 'the past'.

First time I drove an EV I was so annoyed I hadn't done it sooner. Literally better in every way. The charging infrastructure needs to be set out now. Personally I love that I can 'fill' my car on my driveway!

I explained to a detractor recently that by the time the "ban" goes into effect people won't notice bc BEVs will just be "cars".

It would be like of in 2005 there was a mandate that we'd stop installing landlines in homes by 2015.
