Hey to all my Creator friends out there:

Ya might want to check your Adobe subscriptions before the next billing cycle.

Yeah, time for me to dump it. I love Lightroom and enjoy the other apps, but $840 for opening photoshop and illustrator once every other month for hobby playtime is insanity. And DiVinci Resolve is just fine for my video editing ability.

Please just pirate Adobe or cancel, it's the morally correct thing to do

There are some options out there. I swore off Adobe a few years back when it became glaringly obvious their business model is predatory. Not familiar with DaVinci, but here are two I’ve used with success doing print jobs and digital media: (thread)

Pixelmator Pro- Apple bought them and does a subscription suite model, but you can just buy Pixelmator Pro for a one-time-$50

If we had a functional justice system this obvious monopoly abuse would be ripe for some justice.

(you do not need a full monopoly to abuse your monopoly position)

I still hate Adobe for buying Cool Edit 2000, rebadging it, and turning it into an expensive subscription product. You used to be able to just buy it. Like, pay money and own a license to use the software. Forever.

Same with the Substance suite. Oh Adobe bought it? To add to creative cloud?

NO. Separate monthly fee.

Same with Autodesk, buying up Softimage and Maya to add to their Max, tying up a huge portion of 3d content creation.

Nope.

I assume it became Audition, which hasn't even had any major updates in years?

FWIW, this seems to be 10-month-old news about a $10 monthly price increase.

The cost was already a lot. It's the reason I made the decision to go into Davinci Resolve forever ago. Paid $300 one time and get everything for life.

I couldn't imagine starting now and having to look at potentially $800+/yr.

I’ve started using Resolve a bit, but it is quite different and I can’t do the same things. Particularly for Projection Mapping projects that are a series of 3d rendered precomps and 20k resolution output. Still need more time with resolve to figure it all out.
