To anyone that acquired a puppy or kitten for Christmas. Please do your research on that breed and make sure that you'll be forever their home. They didn't sign up for you. You signed up for them. Commit yourself to at least 15 years or more. They are not a sweater you can return.

I've adopted a couple of "returned" Xmas gifts in my lifetime. All 8 have been from shelters and rescues. They were incredible fuzzy buddies who made my life better and I hope their lives were better in our home too.

We researched Akitas for a half year before we got one. We first saw two at an trade show, the two of them would guard the booth for the owners. We talked to them about the dogs and got enough information to want to find out more. They are super smart and need early training and socializing.

We did the same thing when we rescued two huskies from death row. We have a decent size fenced in backyard, but we walked them, along with our beagle mix, to a neighborhood park every day to let them run.

So agree. It goes for any animal someone takes into their homes - dogs, cats, bunnies, lizards, parakeets, goldfish, hamsters, etc. none of them are toys. They have needs and if they canโ€™t be met then they donโ€™t belong in that house. Iโ€™m afraid too many people donโ€™t get that.

Every single day. I don't have a big house at all, but actually have 2 vacuums and 3 Bona mops. They are constant work, but being snowed in for 2 weeks, it's pretty much my excersize.

Unfortunately, people have children that should not have children! Unfortunately, people acquire pets that should not have pets! ๐Ÿ˜ผโ˜น๏ธ๐Ÿ˜•๐Ÿ™€

Getting a pup is almost like having a kid. They need you 24-7 for as long as they live. Training for people and dog should start right away. Fortunately they are so worth it. My German Shepard, Mina is 11 1/2 yrs old, which is scary.

So agree. A pet is a lifetime commitment. If you don't know whether or not you can keep that commitment, then you can't, so don't get a pet! DO NOT put an animal through that anguish. (Love: "Voted For Joy & We Ended Up with This". I feel exactly the same here!)

In Hawaiian: kahu means an honored attendant, guardian, nurse, or keeper of something precious, to describe someone responsible for the well-being of a person, an object, or a pet. The concept of "kahu" emphasizes a deep spiritual connection, a sense of care & responsibility, rather than ownership.

My cats have come to me from wherever. The last 18 years included 2 divorces, one marriage, being broke and unemployed and living in one room. And he stuck by me and I stuck by him. And for the first time ever, three days ago, he left me forever.

And yes, I had a plan for his life after me.

I'm so sorry for your loss. We've buried many beloved pets. It's always awful.๐Ÿ’”

This reminder is never out of season. Always know what you are buying when you get a pet. Pets are not disposable.

This is a very important message about getting an animal for everybody everywhere. Just because a puppy or kitten looks cute for you doesn't mean they are the right one for your particular situation. Don't do yourself and them a disservice by not checking on the animals needs.

March in protests. I have crazy magats on my street and in my neighborhood. I can't display anything, in fear of my house burning down.

I found an abandoned kitten in my backyard when he was only a few days old. I fed him every 3 hours and helped him go potty every day for weeks.

I was going to give him away after he was stable, but I fell in love with him. Heโ€™s the best roommate I ever had. I hope he lives at least 20yrs. ๐Ÿ™ ๐Ÿ˜ป
