The US doesn't transit any ships through the Strait...and asked for assistance in forcing Iran to open the Strait...you can call it surrender if you like but the US has nothing to gain by negotiating for a toll free passage.

Iran's economy is trash...they, like the other Gulf states would like to divest away from oil...and that takes money...Iran will charge tolls on oil and expand their tourism sector.

Trump is already on board by saying a lot of money is going to be made.
