This is a *big* legal win.

Looking forward to the false arrest claims and Starmer’s arrest for complicity in genocide.

Another massive Self-Own by this Govt.

So many unforced errors. 🤦‍♂️

Phenomenal news and a welcome outbreak of common sense for those of us who think that terrorism is looking under cars for bombs etc, not waving placards or breaking equipment in a way that is already criminal.

Excellent news. The ban on Palestine Action was always an over-reaction, as were the multiple arrests.

Isn't this good news all around, even for the government? (I mean, I sense they may have regretted the initial decision and now this allows them a way out?)

Where is the evidence of regret?

So what happens to those imprisoned for supporting it like those recently on hunger strikes now?

Did the court rule on Plasticine Action too?

Seriously though, this is wonderful news 👏

It only seemed to have been imposed because the government was embarrassed that they’d managed to infiltrate what should be one of the most secure installations in the country.

Having leafed through the judgement the gist seems to be that while on one level the government had quite a lot of right on its side in tagging the core of PA as a violent terrorist group, in practice doing so was disproportionate to the harms and constraints the proscription imposed on many people

There were some parts of the hearing held in secret, so I think it was more than that.

FT is saying that group remains proscribed pending an appeal by the Government.

It was an atrocious abuse of power glad to see it

It is very difficult to defeat the government on any terrorism judicial review

It is also very difficult to defeat the government when challenging a statutory instrument, terrorism or otherwise.

Legally this is a *huge* achievement for the applicants.

When the bench was suddenly "beefed up" I sensed such a win was a possibility.

See quoted post from two months ago - against those then insisting this was a bad sign for the applicant.

If you are going to quash a terrorism SI you want a strong bench.

Less so when siding with the government.

I wonder if the same people screaming for the sacking of the WM Police Chief for banning Israeli hooligans from a football match were supportive of this massive government overreach that literally criminalised people for holding up a sign in support of Palestine Action. Freedom works both ways.

Does this negate all the charges against protesters with signs or is that not how it works?

What does that mean for people convicted under those laws?

Appeal likely though isn’t it?

The government(Starmer)have to appeal to try and save Yvette Cooper.

IIRC that means 'there isn't a law specifically covering Thing but if there were then Thing would be ruled illegal' ?

Compo for the victims of this promptly

Maybe you should do airflow research?

There is no compo needed because there has been no harm. All the prosecutions have been on hold.

Compo all round for the people they arrested then eh

You don’t get compensation for being arrested.

Fantastic. Does this mean that all those arrested for support PA will have the charges dismissed? We're any of them found guilty or were all the cases waiting for this review?

The ban reminds in place pending judicial appeal by the government.

So not yet and depending on whether the government will do this and whether they will win.

◻️

That many Labour politicians have been enticed into LFI and accepted lobby money [half the cabinet at least] is the disgrace in the face of the on-going slaughter of Palestinians in Gaza.

Gaza is nowhere in UK MSM while the focus is on Trump.
