Star Wars isn't about the Jedi or the Skywalkers or hope or mythology or any of that. Star Wars is about seeing a weird little space guy in the background of a scene when you're a kid and then obsessing over that weird little space guy for the rest of your life.

It always made me a little sad when the guy we knew as Turd Face or Space Chicken Head got retconned to Merip Manoon or Gemp Ganloo and was secretly a member of the Rebel Alliance. Like every other character in every public space.

Star Wars isn't about learning the complicated backstory and redemption arc of Boba Fett. Star Wars is about seeing Boba Fett, a silent robot man, get unceremoniously eaten by a desert monster and then still committing to making him the core of your entire personality.

Please know that this isn't a diss on Star Wars. It's a testament to its power as a work of fiction that so many people fell in love with weird dudes from the OG trilogy that they spent most of the 90s buying "essential guides" on the off chance that they made an appearance in them

I think the weird little guys are quintessential to its main theme of growing up and discovering the endless possibilities of the world (making good on your dreamy staring at the twin sunset, as it were). Yeah there might be stormtroopers beyond the farm, but also interesting funny little guys!
