Just a wee thought for the day.

To those that are out there that oppose the idea of a "Nation of Sanctuary" - would they not have taken in the Basque refugees (some were housed in
Caerleon not far from where I grew up) during the Spanish Civil War? Or would they have supported Franco's actions?

Just so I'm clear, I don't think for a second that there are people on this platform who do oppose it, mainly because we actually have a grasp on what the "Nation of Sanctuary" actually is - without falling for the vitriol and disinformation that is a plague on our society - to suit a certain view.

So many people who are in favour of aiding Ukrainian refugees are opposed to helping those fleeing from conflict further afield, claiming we take โ€˜more than our fair shareโ€™ without realising the scale of the situation and how many have been taken in by other countries.
