Luxon's govt cut funding for extreme-weather resilience in 2024, and so shouldn't be allowed to now crow about any money they dedicate without it being mentioned.

The govt "saved" $3.2 billion by scrapping the resilience fund. They're now giving away $1.2 million for an easy, feelgood headline from NZME.

If you don't hold those in power responsible for their past decisions, then why are you a journalist?

I haven't seen any mention in NZME's many, many stories on this week's extreme weather events that the current govt cut funding for resilience infrastructure.

Instead, NZME is running "personal responsibility" tat like this. The message is: look after yourself. That is not a neutral position.
