ALP built/are building the Regional Rail Link and Melton/Footscray hospitals. I think the problem is less political and more structural -- infrastructure always lags behind development, places that were twenty years ago more or less country are becoming city. Problem is less neglect, more sprawl imo

Labor obvs not blameless here, sprawl can't happen without government enabling and incentivising it, but the last decade of Labor government has also overseen massive upgrades in infrastructure in specifically the western suburbs. More can and should be done, but a good deal has been also.

And all the while Labor are throwing billions adding extra rail capacity to established eastern suburbs already well serviced by public transport.

The suburban rail loop should have started in Werribee and extended clockwise, not the other way around.

Rail should have been electrified several election commitments ago.

Grade separation has only just started on the Ballarat line, and the bridges are only one lane in each direction, with significant N/S crossings missed

The Western Fwy crossovers at Deanside and Rockbank are barely functional.

I'm not seeing it. Melton hospital is the best that can be said, but it's already undersized for the current population and there is no room to expand.

The time to build roads and rail is before people move in, not after traffic queues onto the Western Fwy start reaching gridlock.
