In Catch-22, the doctor, Doc Daneeka, is supposed to fly a certain number of hours. But he hates it, so he has a crew fake the flight log. When that crew's plane crashes, the pilots say 'shit, Doc Daneeka was on that plane', 'oh man, great guy' and then just act like he isn't there any more.

I'm just saying relation to a recent disappearance from the public eye, there is nothing preventing us just carrying on as if that person was just gone, even if like Doc Daneeka, they appear in front of us and insist they are fine.
