When you find a good find, make damn sure you get good pictures.

I thought I was the only one that took a million shots for just one good one. πŸ˜‚ 🌼

Cornflowers are by far the easiest & most rewarding display of color. Simplicity by nature.

No, Cornflower or Bachelor's Button, which is in Knapweed, rather than Love-in-a-mist which is in the Ranunculaceae family.

Yes! Who is that plant? I'm in the UK and I haven't seen them before.

Cornflower (Centaurea cyanis), introduced here from the UK, where it is native.

Every time I open your page this image makes me laugh because I so closely relate.

Nothing like the crushing feeling of realizing that all the "good" pics you took of some plant turned out blurry and finding it pulled when you go back for more.

I normally take 3 or 4 and most times I get one good one. If I take too many, I waste lots of time in editing trying to work out which one is sharpest at full resolution even though I'm only posting them online!

I often take 3 or 4 and find when I get home that none came out as good as they looked when I took them, so I only take that few if the find is common enough that I don't particularly care. I don't always take as many as when I find something as special as a Cornflower, however.

And then I still find out I missed something when I check the pics back home πŸ˜†

Too often the one thing needed for a positive ID, of course.

Are the hairs of the peduncles adpressed or spreading?
Damn! My pics don't show that detail.

I just wanna say, you are hands down my favorite bluesky account lol idk what that says about me really... but in addition to just enjoying plant/flower posts, the way you find life persisting within/despite human habitation is .. idk inspires hope for the future? Lol meh corny but true. ThanksπŸ’š

Also, side note, but do you take all of these yourself? Or do you accept submissions somehow?
