I remember right before my 8th birthday seeing Timex Sinclairs (as sold in the US) and thinking they were the coolest things ever.

My father ended up getting a TI/99-4A, but the Sinclairs were so intriguing.

Isn’t the story that you could swap in your old computer for a $100 discount on the Commodore64? Which resulted in massive amounts of Sinclair computers in Commodore offices, so they ended up being used as door stops.
