“Bravery?” I said. “Was it brave for goebbels and his wife to slaughter their children so they could die with Hitler?”

“That’s totally different” he replied.

I disagreed and the group groaned so I left it alone. But it stuck with me as a lasting impression over the years of what Israel is.

It is a splinter cell of rabid zealots. It sits atop its fortified mountain while it attacks its neighbors. But the end result will be the same.

One day it will be gone. And the shield of David and words like “shalom” won’t be associated with its filth any longer. And I’ll rejoice

I've repeatedly referred to the IDF's bad faith line of argument about so-called human shields as Keyser Soze shit, killing hostages first to show the kidnappers they have no power over you, but, man, there might be something said for Israel trying to cultivate that mindset intentionally.
