I agree with what the interviewee is saying that if you are Jewish in the world today you do not get to morally abstain from having a position on the state of Israel and its actions.

There’s a big difference between saying we’re morally obligated to speak out or even to observe how Jews are perceived and normatively that one should assume we support what Israel is doing.

If you want evidence of that, just look at how this article was received on X.

What an incredibly dangerous position for them to take publicly.

Like this is pulling out the pin from a grenade and going “well I am opposed to people releasing the trigger”

There is a country and group that would claim to speak for you. Unless you disagree with what it says then unfortunately it is speaking for you. It sucks, but unfortunately the deal

I should not get into this conversation because I am not Jewish but one pt.-- different kinds of responsibility. There's 'it's your fault' i.e., liability. Then there is also forward looking 'taking responsibility' which an optional choice because you are positioned fix something or help someone.

I remember I was at one of the big protests last year w/ a pro-Palestine sign and this little old lady came up to me and said, "I agree, and I'm a Jew. It's terrible what Jews are doing", and I felt sad for her.

(To be clear my sign did not mention Jews)

It’s not exactly the same situation, obviously, but this philosophy is what motivated me to join an anti-Moms For Liberty group

Here is a group of mostly white moms, doing heinous things and purporting to speak for us. I can’t just let them do that
