that’s one of the things I think is so fascinating about, for example, JKR going full mask-off after we had a lengthy body of work to re-examine in that light. in the HP narrative, even the most significant girls and women are somehow always standing juuuust one step behind the boys and men

The only gender advantage in chess is the time I put a guy in checkmate in a few moves because he was convinced I couldn't possibly know how to play because *he* was "high IQ," and I went with it. He flipped the board. This was middle school lol
