My dad worked 80 hours a week to provide well for his family. I do resent a person who thinks he should have given up 1/2 his earnings to make things fair. Unfortunately, life is not always fair and sometimes there is just nothing you can do about that

If things were balanced and equitable, your father wouldn't have had to work 80 hours a week to provide. But billionaires are squeezing as much as they can out of the lower classes, and in turn lobbying (bribing) politicians to keep people poor. You need to wake up and research the wealth gap.

I drove home everyday to my 10x60 trailer where I warmed myself with a space heater. Sorta turned me off to the wonders of social programs. And, btw, my taxes were going towards funding the very programs I couldn’t use.
Very frustrating and disillusioning

Back in the 80s when I was a new teacher and making 10K annually I applied for help. I was denied—income too high. Meanwhile, every Monday in home room I passed out free and reduced lunch tickets to students dressed in designer clothing who took taxis to school.
