I’ve researched the entire history that led to the 25th Amendment and what followed and wrote about all of it nearly a decade ago.

Since then — and, in part, due to its limits and complications — I’ve only called for Section 4 to be invoked on two dates: January 6, 2021, and today.

I would agree with this, if you could ever get that cabinet to act. It does provide for further discussion, but the key is that the act itself will then require all the U.S. and world governments to be on notice and people have to make real decisions.

It’s not going to happen. His cabinet does not feel the pressure or direness that would compel them to do it. God help us.

Oddly enough, I spent part of today diving into 25th Amendment. It’s safe to say I’ll be spending the rest of the evening tomorrow trying to make sure I don’t misinterpret it. (All done in the hopes it can be used if the midterms turn out the way the majority is hoping.)

This would really be an important time for it

Thank you for your info on the details of how that all works, it's very interesting

This doesn’t directly impact the 25th Amendment discussion, but there’s never been a better time for a member of Congress to introduce a motion to vacate the Speaker’s chair.

Simple majority would do it; there’s GOP members that will cross over.

Whew. Thank god that Congress doesn’t have anything to do with the 25th amendment after it’s evoked.

Impeachment: Majority of House + 2/3 of Senate

25th Amendment: Vice President + Majority of Cabinet + 2/3 of House + 2/3 of Senate

Impeachment is the right remedy for Trump in general. 25th is appropriate for immediate intervention to prevent nuking an entire civilization.

I am intrigued as to how your thoughts have changed since you first wrote that 2017 article!

I've been calling it ever since he got back in office. He's been breaking laws left and right and holding funding as ransom.

You missed his point that even with all that he hadn’t called for it until now. Because this moment is significantly worse than all the other law breaking because he’s threatening to wipe out Iran with nukes.

At least 70,000,000 Americans support your assertion...we all wish those responsible would act....

Ah. Missed this point 1st time through:

"If impeachment — which requires only a majority vote of the House — needs to follow this initial, immediate step, then Congress must follow in lock step."

Help me understand your rationale for the deployment of this lever, when it requires the cooperation of a lickspittle Cabinet. I'm struck by these cowardly men who wear cheap, ill-fitting shoes because Dear Leader wants them to.

Much as I do not relish having a President Vance, he would wreck the nation in a more palatable way, until 2028.

14A3 is a better remedy only because the 25th amendment requires participation from people wearing shoes that don't fit them because their cult leader gave them to them. Cults never turn against their leader.
