I go through something similar at work where they train us to hover over a hyperlink to see where it points to, but then they use a service that scans and replaces URLs, so we literally can't see where it actually points to.

Don't forget when you're using Microsoft products, you can go to outlook.com which, once logged in, switches to my-sharepoint.com and/or microsoftonline.com, and probably a few others.

Are they still using live.com? I know onedrive.com also comes into play. But I stick to the desktop apps, at least while I still can. I've had sync issues resulting in data loss on the web apps. Not sure if everyone's SharePoint and Teams are as buggy as ours, but it's frustrating.

It'd be okay if IT security took responsibility for the link, but they say we're still responsible if we click on a maliciously link. So I click on nothing, or report things as phishing so they'll do a manual review. I've reported emails from HR as phishing because you just can't tell.
