Whenever I take the train past a solar farm, people say what a disgrace it is to have it on good agricultural land

They say nothing about the golf courses, fields of Halloween pumpkins, or strips of fields left as cover for pheasants

They're the victims of oil and gas propaganda

Or that in the US, 40% of corn (about 10,000,000 acres) is grown to produce ethanol that is just simply burned. I always ask people to imagine half of the cornfields just burning & it’s not quite so attractive.

The income from solar can make a big difference to small farmers - 5x income from crops.

Between the prison/jail propaganda & oil/gas propaganda, it has completely corrupted society. People don't even realize that the idiom "Now you're cooking with gas" was an advertising slogan for Fossil Fuel companies to get people to buy gas stoves/ovens.

The one that always gets me are people near Newmarket complaining about a planned solar farm taking away farmland when they are surrounded by 1000s acres of racehorse studs and paddocks

They also in general do not know which crops are for industrial use not food, or which cereal feeds Pheasants.

Totally and sheep can be reared there and the farmer can use poorer land for it etc. Given some small farmers are at breaking point, this gives them much needed income too and they may then continue providing the nation with our food
