Stephen Lewis has gone to the angels. He was a relentless fighter for justice. When I was 9 my Granny (an immigrant mining widow) made me sit in front of the TV and listen to him speak about compensation for mining victims.
His passion and commitment stayed with me.

I was a young woman the first time I heard Mr Lewis in a conference at Industry Canada where I was working. An enlightening moment in my life that changed my outlook on the world. What a brilliant man he was - we need more politicians with a heart like him. Rest in peace.🫂

I remember a speech he made where he called on support for the South African grandmother's raising the thousands of AIDS orphans. It was ao very moving.

He spoke at my high school two years in a row during the early 80s. I didn’t know much about him before, but I still remember sitting in that auditorium being struck by the power of his words and the ferocity of his convictions. He made this teenager think - a lot. A giant. He’ll be missed.
