About when did mushrooms evolve?

Interesting question! The first fungi evolved around 800mil years ago, but the first wood decomposers like these were more like 300mil years ago

I thought that I'd heard that contemporary fungi are about as old as dinosaurs, and that's wild.

It makes me wonder if there would be more carbon deposits from ancient trees if these hadn't evolved.
