The CA Democratic Party opposed the jungle primary. So did the CA Republican Party. This was foisted on the state by "independents," newspaper endorsements and voters.

It’s weird, cuz both parties opposed it, yet it was approved to send to voters by a super majority. Funny how that works. Dems could have easily killed it.

The lesson: sometimes compromise is worse than standing your ground.

Yep, there were lots of shitty compromises that came out of requiring a supermajority to pass a budget in CA. We're lucky that once Democrats regained power, they passed an initiative allowing the budget to be passed with a simple majority.

Same reason we have to get rid of the filibuster.
