The average Evangelical already doesn't think Catholicism is Christianity, so I'm not sure how much "less ecumenical" we could get.

And yet the Catholics will walk over broken glass to run to a voting booth and support the GOP, knowing the white evangelicals who make up the GOP hate them. Let them have the country they voted for they deserve each other.
