Also, I'd prepare a huge 'all of the above' energy program, scrapping barriers to nuclear power, juicing renewables, fraking harder than Battlestar Galactica, to try to make the region less important because our position there is materially weakened.

Oh yeah, the day neither Iran or Saudi Arabia has significant leverage over the rest of the world is one I'm very much looking forwards to. I'm only in my thirties and expect to see it in my lifetime.
