2 hours recapping an N64 then trying to figure out what I screwed up because it stopped working…
Reseated caps, checked continuity, decided I have no business doing this and WTF was I even thinking trying to do it…
Then I cleaned the jumper pak with ISO… 🤦‍♂️

Gotta love that. I recapped a tube radio once and it had horrible interference, undoing and redoing me work before trying a different known working radio and that had the same interference. Radio worked fine when I took it to another place 😅

Recapping any system you haven't worked on before that is working before is always scary. I remember the first NES recapped I replaced a few then tested, then a few more, etc until I was done.

This was probably my 6th? But I have imposter syndrome real bad so I’m always doubting myself.

When I was recapping an n64 I also thought I had broken it. But I was testing it without anything on the place of the jumper pack🤪

Did that with my PS1 ODE. Checked and rechecked and reflowed and... It was just that my rips were no good 🤡

You understand. You get super excited when it finally fires up, then feel incredibly stupid.

That RDRAM bus is touchy, if it's not properly terminated, it just doesn't work xD

Did my first recap on my Dreamcast the other week. Not knowing whether you’ve done it right until it’s all back together is a very particular feeling.

Troubleshooting is fun tho! Well done with yours 👍👍

It’s a good game for testing since the audio kicks in right away. One time I had a cap a little off center and the audio made it clear where to check.
