I took 2 years off college to work because my mother had had cancer & fell behind on the mortgage & property taxes, just having to take unpaid time off work & travel for treatment - full coverage otherwise. We still almost lost the house. She & my siblings would have been homeless. The fear is real.

Exactly. It's not that we all in the Nordics run around grinning like crazy, but instead it is the fact that we have very few that feel hunger, broke from hospital bills, fear of school shootings, etc.
We happily pay our taxes for a system that sustain and promote our citizens well being.
