Unpopular opinion here, it running at a loss isn't an issue-that should be expected.
The issue is how inefficient it is. It is in need of a massive overhaul-many who has shipped anything with USPS can attest to how bad it. It is in need of a massive overhaul, which is it's own catch22

I think that inefficiency and insolvency is the goal for the GOP--that's why they burdened USPS with pre-payments for future healthcare, etc. The worse it runs the easier it is to make the lying-ass case that the infallible private sector can fix it.

Nah, while there may be some of that happening, there's a lot of it that is self inflicted. There is an overabundance of management, unwillingness to get rid of troublesome/lazy workers, and a requirement to prefund reitrement which put huge strain on it, esp. during the late 2000s recession
