I can't remember which issue it was, but in his podcast, Ed Zitron was basically talking about how there's a lot of talks about data centers going on, but not enough actual building.
And a part of whatever is being built, it's often "one steel beam in the ground".

Basically the plans were blatantly fantastical from the start. You can't build a megawatt data center in a year. Not to mention that you'd need this megawatt (and extra).

Absolutely, but also it's not about building data centres, it's about creating the perception that data centres will be built, to wave at investors and try to keep them shovelling more money into the bonfire
