I experienced a similar dynamic in a community where a woman was the abuser - i wasn't the initial target, but when i called it out i became one.

Do you think there is necessarily an endpoint with the anarchic/hierarchic fight? The notion that they're just two opposing forces that have to duke it out forever seems to be gaining traction. I'm not sure where i land on that idea.

Yeah, I think the endpoint is we win :-) And I think it’s not very far-fetched, considering that, for the majority of human history, we managed to self-govern with more fluid power structures.
