I don't know the specifics but my grandfather did this for whichever war (he'd be somewhere around 80 now) and I see it as a great heroism.

He also was in the local peace choir and I took part of my name from his.

I represent him at every protest and march.

My paternal grandpa was in civilian public service during WWII and I always wished I'd asked him a bit more about it. I come from a long line of Anabaptists.
