Windows 10 is better than 11. It wasn't at first, but 12 months of vibe coding and shovelling unwanted AI into it has rendered 11 an utter impact site of lumbering mediocrity.

7 was better still, far less 'telemetry' & no ads.

I wanted to ditch Windows when 10 expired, but my wife insisted. The main thing that’s shocked me is the aggressive way that Microsoft tries to sell you Office 365, OneDrive, and all that garbage. I don’t mind having to turn stuff off, but I hate that it keeps bugging you to turn it back on.

I happened to check my old Hotmail account on desktop yesterday (usually just do so on my phone) and ventured into the settings to tinker the layout. Got an email ten minutes later from Microsoft. "Welcome to OneDrive!" I had done nothing regarding OneDrive at all.

It's the one and only reason they're dropping support for 10.

I don't want AI on any device. I have a hatred of anythjng automated that doesn't work 100% of the time, or clearly tells you when it's failed.

Every generation of Windows has received this kind of review.

They do, but some manage to salvage their reputation, and some remain to be considered dogshit forever, like Millennium Edition.

Windows 11 is *very* much in the latter category.

The others weren't full of fucking shit AI or full of ads, and those ones let you at least put the start bar at the top of the screen.

I just want Windows XP back. Why can't we have that?

A friend who works in IT did tell me how I could have XP again, but I had no clue how to do any of the stuff he was talking about.
