this might seem like a pedantic point but honestly the extent to which even the concept of something being held in common has been obliterated from the public consciousness frustrates me more and more every day

I don't even think it's pedantry, I do think understanding the platformisation of the internet as an act of enclosure is crucial. And the appropriation of the term is concerning and... well can be understood as part of cultural enclosure in itself as well.

Also we need people to know what the commons is so they can be as angry at how the concept of ''the tragedy of the commons'' is such bullshit apologia for rulers and capitalism.
