I think also that we’ve forgotten how relieved we were when he came into office, replacing the chaos of the Johnson/Truss/Sunak years. Many people actively *wanted* boring leadership for a while.

I want someone who gets on with the job, and isn’t constantly promoting themselves 🤷🏻‍♂️

Yes, but also a vision for positive change that they are able to communicate. For all the good they have done behind the scenes on, say, EU alignment, the strongest messaging from this Labour government has been on anti-immigration, something many progressives find problematic.
