Many years ago, my ex-brother-in-law raised Great Danes. I was going to buy one of the puppies. but when he found out I wouldn’t cut the dog’s ears, he refused to sell the dog to me. I’ve always felt it’s cruel to crop ears and/or tails to achieve a certain “look”.

It is cruel. And against the law in a lot of Europe. As is declawing of cats.

My Dane has floppy ears. She is a good girl. Only way I would ever do that to her is if the vet said it had to be done for legit health reasons and to save her far more and worse suffering. She does occasionally get ear infections. But not often to make the vet recommend chopping her ears..
