I thought uk could only do the deal with US consent. So, not sure it was Starmer who changed his mind

The failure to cede the Islands to Mauritius has repeatedly been found unlawful and the US doesn’t have a veto on what’s lawful. The UK was going to hand them over till Trump changed his mind, so I’d say that was the definition of the UK likewise changing its mind under pressure
