I’ve written prettier sentence, but the one I return to is “My life has become the single ongoing revelation that I haven’t been cynical enough.”

I absolutely, totally, feel that sentence with every fibre of my being. Like, seriously.

I feel the same. I have been saying and feeling for literally decades that “I keep thinking I have become too cynical, then realizing again that I am not even close to keeping up“

Personally I found the Expanse series just cynical enough. Even in the face of great atrocities, we must push on, and so we do.

The resilience of those characters has inspired me quite tangibly.

Its honestly probably one of the best in the Expanse series IMO. I use it a decent amount in my daily life.

God bless Avasarala.

"The older I get, the more I realize the truth of this statement," a reader said of that sentence.

I'm starting to wonder how many decades/centuries it'll take for humanity to wrest control away from the self-serving, abusive sociopaths of the world, and bring about an age where things are controlled by people who act responsibly, and with empathy and care.

I want to think it'll happen eventually, but considering the abusive sociopaths are sacrificing everything in exchange for short-term personal gains, I fear humanity might destroy itself before that change is able to happen.

That line’s a garrote. Strange, I’m writing a misanthropic protagonist on the other side of that now. She has to claw her way toward hope and trust. In first POV, every word out of her mouth buries me.
