I may be biased, but I think Blues Brothers is the best musical movie ever made There isn't a single song there that isn't an absolute banger performed by some real legend, plus it's got cool characters who fight nazis and the comedic moments are actually funny. Just perfect.

A lot of the musicians they contacted were initially skeptical, apparently, but Akroyd and Belushi went out of their way to prove that the movie would be respectful of the music and give it the prominence it deserved, even while the film itself would be an absurdist comedy

The way music can completely rewrite a scene's emotional DNA is wild โ€” like how a single song choice can turn a throwaway moment into something that haunts you for years. There's actual psychology behind why certain film performances bypass our logic and go straight to the feels.

Liked this song so much I had to look up the real singer/band straight after watching the movie and discovered Union Station and Alison Krauss, more than making up for that one slight critique of the great Coen brothers work.๐Ÿ˜Š

Everyone Remembers the big dance numbers from the Astaire/Rogers musicals. But this one, where he just stands and sings to her is fantastic. And her close up at the end sells it.

It picks up and becomes, arguably, the most epic dance sequence ever committed to film, but for me the elegance of the opening is just... there aren't even words, it's heartbreaking.

It's old and hokey with the evil muppets, and the tight pants, and David Bowie recklessly endangering an infant, not to mention the hour-and-a-half long justification for relationships with 14 year olds...

But I still like it and used to dance to this as a kid.

Very underappreciated but hilarious Swedish movie "Tjenare Kungen", is full of them.

"Tjenare Kungen" means "Hiya, King" but they decided to call it "God Save The King" abroad, I guess as a reference to Sex Pistols.
